What are the responsibilities and job description for the Delivery Driver position at Star of the West Milling Co.?
Purpose
To deliver finished product to customers safely and in a timely manner.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintain assigned delivery truck in a clean condition and good mechanical condition
- Inspect tractor and trailer per DOT guidelines and enter pertinent information into log book before leaving
Star of the West property.
- Safely drive to customer address following all DOT and State Highway Department laws and regulations and report to the plant receiver.
- Offload truck at the direction of the receiver if a bulk load or back into assigned dock and wait for forklift operator to unload van trailer.
- Notify Star of the West of any needed repairs from the daily inspections or damage incurred during delivery.
- Keep abreast of and comply with changing DOT regulations.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma
Willingness to work all shifts and weekends when required
Maintain a current "Commercial Driver’s License"; Class A CDL
Maintain a current DOT physical card
Minimum 6 months driving experience
Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
Obtain and maintain credentials to travel to Canada

Employees must be physically able to perform all requirements including but not limited to:
- Physically able to perform all duties / lift, push and pull a minimum of 75 pounds
- Work in tight and confined spaces, walk, climb, bend, kneels, grip, and grasp various tools and equipment
- Sit for long periods of time during deliveries
- Occasionally work at significant heights, with requisite balance and equilibrium.
- Ability to maintain pertinent log books, inspection sheets and fuel records
- Ability to walk stairs and climb up and down bulk trailers; ascend/descend ladders, stairs and perform all functions necessary to inspect trucks and trailers per DOT regulations
