Primary Function
The QA/QC CWI Inspector local to Whiting, Indiana area will be responsible for inspections and tests in support of the Project Quality Program. The work will include performing required inspections during the project, to assure that the quality of all work done by STARCON is in compliance with approved drawings, applicable codes, and specifications as well as our QA/QC Manual. Duties will also include ongoing project documentation, research, and communication. Will help identify any quality problems and participate in the resolution of such problems as well as provide assistance during any quality investigations. The QA/QC CWI Inspector promotes STARCON in a positive manner, develops a partnering relationship with the client to reduce the client’s costs, and improve safety and reliability.
Qualification Guidelines:
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Petro-Chemical Industry or related field
- Must be local to the Whiting, Indiana area
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Civil, Structural, and Rotating Equipment
- Self-motivated individual used to working in a fast-paced environment.
Skills:
- Proficient with codes and specifications applicable to the project.
- Assist in the qualification of weld procedures.
- Advanced Mechanical drawing.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to document all required inspection items for the project.
- Able to follow-up with customers on all QA/QC issues.
- Produce and track NDT requests and paperwork.
- Produce and track Hydro Testing requests and paperwork.
- Knowledge of Flange Maps and maintaining Flange Logs.
- Knowledge of Torque Specifications.
- Knowledge of Weld Maps and maintaining Weld Logs.
Post Hire Requirements:
- Willing to meet Starcon and client background and drug testing requirements
- May be required to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by STARCON.
- Ability to understand and maintain compliance with all Starcon and clients’ safety and quality control procedures.
- Have means of reliable transportation to/from work and adhere to company attendance policies.
- Work alongside all team members in order to reach a common goal and may be required from time to time to perform other duties that they are qualified to perform, outside of his or her normal job function.
- Be willing to attend craft specific training sessions after shift when offered.
- Ability to periodically work extended hours and shifts when deemed necessary.
Work Environment
The work environment may at times require you to work in SCBA, special protective PPE specific to the unit and working at heights. Extended work hours may be required. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and elements. Must be physically able to carry up to 50 lbs. of tools and/or material. The worksite is located at a local Oil Refinery; travel will not be required.

Pay: $48.00 - $49.68 per hour
