Technology Support Specialist


FLSA Status: Exempt


Job Description:

Under the direction of the SPARCC Director(s), the Technology Support Specialist is responsible for technology support services for the educational entitites associated with the SPARCC consortium.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
  • Interact in a positive and respectful manner with staff, students, parents, and co-workers
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation
  • Troubleshoot software/hardware problems
  • Prepare, test and deploy new software/hardware for all Operating Systems
  • Assist in managing the following:
    • LAN administration
    • Server administration
    • Google Apps for Education administration
    • Active Directory account administration for staff and student accounts and related security
    • Helpdesk and end user support
    • Technology Inventory
    • Create model computer images and image computers as needed.
  • Provide timely resolution of computer problems by providing answers or referral
  • Works independently with limited supervision and is able to prioritize tasks as needed
  • Lead and manage various technology software and hardware projects as assigned
  • Maintain, enhance, and fulfill user defined reports and data requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Director of Operations.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive up-to-date knowledge of computer related technology, software, and related equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and maintain effective working relationships and team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing
  • Effective listening skills
  • Strong organizational, project/time management and problem solving skills
  • Ability to solve independently most minor problems


Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school and three or more years of related experience.
  • Experience in monitoring, maintaining, developing, upgrading, and supporting various IT Systems.
  • Ability to provide expertise and support to all system users.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and understand software documentation, to develop instructional materials as needed, to conduct training programs in the use of software applications.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with many individuals of varying backgrounds and to handle information professionally and confidentially.
  • Familiarity with various computer systems and ability to use associated computer equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with other employees and train others in the use of computer equipment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4 or more years of experience with technology integration and support
  • Proficient knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing software and operating systems.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position
  • Industry leading certification(s)
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and standards


Supervises:

  • None


Employment Terms:

  • 7.5 hours per day
  • 240 day contract
