Position Description

Shift: PT -3 hours on Sunday

POSITION TITLE: Driver DEPARTMENT: Facilities

FLSA: Non-exempt SUPERVISOR: Maintenance Director

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing timely and courteous transportation for the residents to and from various activities while providing quality service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Drives vehicle from community area to destination according to assigned schedule.
• Assists disabled passengers into and out of vehicle.
• Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
• Safely operates radio, cell phone or pager to communicate with base station or other vehicles to report disruption of service.
• Maintains all community vehicles in good working condition.
• Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
• Assists with vehicle registration and license plates renewal process.
• Inspects vehicle condition on a monthly and per trip basis.
• Provides miscellaneous pick-up and delivery services as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Educational Requirements and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clean Driving Record
• Experience in customer service environment, preferably in a senior living setting.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Language Ability: Ability to communicate effectively speaking the primary language of the residents. o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Cognitive Demands: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

• Competencies: Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population. Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner. Ability to respond promptly to resident needs. Supports organization's goals and values. Balances team and individual responsibilities. Must be knowledgeable of all safety precautions and comply with safety measures. Ability to react calmly in emergency situations. Ability to operate a chair lift and secure regular and mechanical wheelchairs and scooters. Ability to work semi-independently without direct supervision. Able to make responsible choices and decisions and act in a resident’s best interest. Competent in organization, time management skills and handling multiple priorities. Competent knowledge of local area including traffic patterns in order to closely estimate travel times and plans appropriate routes to destinations.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

• Works both outdoors and indoors all year.

• Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual

While performing the duties of this Job, the Team Member is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The Team member is frequently required to sit and stoop, kneel, and couch. The Team Member is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance. The Team Member must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
