Qualifications:
- US work Authorization (Required)
- Basic understanding of English language
- Ability to pass a full background check
Basic Function:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform routine custodial activities at the facility to assure a clean, healthy and safe environment for students, staff and visitors; maintain buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition.
Essential Duties:
- Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school or facility; sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floors; vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets.
- Maintain building and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition; clean classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices, auditoriums, libraries, gymnasiums, locker rooms and other facilities as assigned; dust and polish furniture and woodwork; empty waste receptacles and pencil sharpeners; remove gum, debris and graffiti as needed.
- Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities including sinks, toilets and urinals; stock dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items; clean mirrors, tile and windows; unclog drains and toilets.
- Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkways and areas adjacent to school facilities; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to school building.
- Replace screws, light bulbs and tubes; prepare and clean tables, chairs and floors after breakfast, lunch and recess periods as assigned.
- Perform a variety of routine general maintenance and non-technical repairs to buildings, fixtures, walls, floors, equipment and furniture as assigned.
- Operate a variety of custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, stripping machines, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assigned.
- Assist with setting up/tear down and assemble chairs, tables and other furniture and equipment for special events and activities; clean up furniture, equipment and debris following these events.
- Participate in other assigned activities such as moving and arranging furniture, cleaning and restoring campus facilities during vacation periods and delivering materials to various locations.
- Communicate with faculty administrators to exchange information and resolve custodial related issues and concerns, as necessary.
- Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority; report vandalism and need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority.
- Maintain supplies and provide inventory ordering needs to the campus administrators.
Knowledge of:
- Correct English usage.
- Materials, tools and equipment used in modern custodial work.
- Modern cleaning methods including basic methods of cleaning and preserving floors, white boards, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures.
- Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
- Requirements of maintaining buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
- Appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
- Proper lifting techniques.
- Follow proper health and safety regulations.
- Meet schedules and time lines.
Physical Demands:
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of custodial equipment.
- Walking or standing for extended periods of time.
- Seeing to perform custodial duties.
- Carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects.
- Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
- Climbing ladders and working from heights to replace light bulbs.
Hazards:
- Exposure to various cleaning agents and chemicals.
- Working on ladders.
