Responsibilities
State Farm Staff Counsel, Wade S. Anderson & Associates, is seeking an Alabama licensed Attorney to join their growing team in Birmingham, AL. Candidates should possess exceptional knowledge of civil trial procedure, outstanding research abilities, and excellent written and oral advocacy skills. Candidates should be well organized, detail oriented, and able to independently manage a caseload in a time sensitive environment. Duties will include defending State Farm and State Farm insureds in civil suits pending in Circuit and District Courts in Jefferson County and contiguous counties. This Attorney will take and attend depositions of parties, respond to written discovery requests, request, review, and summarize medical records, meet with clients and State Farm Claims employees, prepare litigations summaries and reports as required, and prepare and present cases in the courtroom at trial. Additional duties may be assigned to the selected Attorney by the Managing Attorney.
Some local travel is required with some out of state travel as well.
Qualifications
- Must have a law degree from an A.B.A accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
- Must have an active law license to practice in Alabama and a member in good standing with the Alabama Bar
- 3-5 years of experience in civil litigation preferably insurance defense
- Knowledge of local and state discovery rules and trial procedures
- Competencies in Windows based operating systems, Word, Adobe, Alafile and Alacourt systems
- Experience working in a paperless electronic environment
- Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work opportunities.
HYBRID work environment: Qualified candidates should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment.
