What You Will Be Doing
You will provide budget planning, monitoring, implementation and forecasting to the Permanent Fund Dividend Division, Child Support Services Division, Tax Division, and Treasury Division. Throughout the fiscal year, you will network with administrative leads and directors within the department, fellow Administrative Services Division staff within the fiscal, human resources, and operations sections, the Commissioner’s Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and your peers throughout other agencies in accomplishing the budget needs of the department.

Mission and Culture
The Department of Revenue's Administrative Services Division provides centralized support services for core division programs whose missions are to collect, distribute, and invest funds for public purposes. The Budget team consists of two Analysts and are within a small, 12-person division committed to providing efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused services in support of the department's programs.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
You will be located on the 11th floor of the State Office Building in downtown Juneau. The State Office Building offers panoramic views of the Gastineau Channel, Mount Roberts and Mount Juneau, and is within short walking distance of local shops, restaurants, cafes, sea walks and trails.

This position has the opportunity to telework as part of a hybrid strategy, subject to approval.

Minimum Qualifications

Budget Analyst 1

Two years of technical level experience in accounting, budget, finance, or similar field. This includes, but is not limited to, such work as Accounting Technician 1 and 2, Administrative Assistant 1 and 2, Statistical Technician 1 and 2, or Human Resource Technician 1 and 2 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.

Substitution
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, statistics, or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience.

Budget Analyst 2
One year of entry professional level experience analyzing and reviewing budgetary data and information; preparing analysis, reports, and recommendations on budgetary information; and utilizing electronic information management systems. This is met by service as a Budget Analyst 1 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Two years of entry level professional experience in accounting or auditing; financial management, budget analysis, management, or projection/forecasting; budget legislation or policy analysis; or economic or management analysis and projection.

This job may require working outside of normal work hours. This may include weekends during particularly busy budget development and legislative review times of the year. This position may also need to be available for special assignments. At the Budget Analyst II level, this position is not eligible for overtime.

Flexibly Staffed
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 1 or 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Level 1, promotion to the Level 2 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
