The Chaplain will serve as a consultant on spiritual matters to the treatment teams, prepare and deliver worship services, complete spiritual needs assessments, and provide pastoral care/counseling for patients and their family as appropriate. The Chaplain will also be available for consulting with visiting clergy, help direct the work of religious volunteers, act as liaison between hospital and religious community, and assists in finding resources to address spiritual needs of all faiths.
− Pastoral care with patients individually and in groups.
− Designing and conducting Worship Services
− Spiritual needs assessments, staff meetings, and assistance in finding resources and volunteers to address the
− spiritual needs of patients.
− Familiar with mental illness and its relations to an individual's faith and spirituality.
− The intentional striving to meet individuals where they are in life.
− Provide Church teaching and practices.
− Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.
− Conducting Worship Services, rosary groups/individual, meditation group/individual discussion groups and individual conversations, and spiritual needs assessments.
− Audio-Visual, writing reports, and interacting with hospital staff.
− Self-discipline must be demonstrated in keeping abreast in the field of Pastoral Care and mental illness.
− Good judgment, strong speaking skills, and good listening skills.
− Support a diverse multi-cultural workforce that reflects the community, promotes equal opportunity at all levels of public employment, and creates an inclusive work environment that enables all individuals to perform to their fullest potential free from discrimination.
− Two years of experience working in the mental health field and/or a ministerial experience as a pastor, deacon, nun, rabbi, priest, or other clergy practitioner.
− Education in the areas of Master of Divinity, Religion, Theology, or Pastoral Studies is preferred.
- Must be an ordained individual with documented education (Bachelor of Divinity, Religion, Theology or Pastoral Studies), experience and credentials.
- Driver's License
- Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issues pursuant to A.R.S.41-1758.07 or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment.
Driving is required for State Business.
- Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
