Work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm with an hour lunch break rotating among 3 Security personnel so that 2 of 3 are usually present. Uniform shirts will be provided.

Description Of Job

The salary range for this posting is:

$16.53 - $20.25 Hourly

$1,322.77 - $1,620.00 Biweekly

$2,866.00 - $3,510.00 Monthly

$34,392.00 - $42,120.00 Annually

Work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm with an hour lunch break rotating among 3 Security personnel so that 2 of 3 are usually present. Uniform shirts will be provided.

  • Uses metal detection equipment and wands to screen individuals.
  • Signs-in non-employees by checking IDs and holding proper identification until visitor exits the building.
  • Cleans and sanitizes customer cubicle, including telephones, between each customer.
  • Makes rounds daily checking for safety and security issues inside and outside the building.
  • Monitors employees, claimants, and other persons for safety and security threats.
  • Must be prepared to contact/confront any individual to ensure he/she has proper authority to access the building or if the individual appears to be a security concern.
  • Calms agitated individuals or defuses hostile situations through conflict resolution skills whenever reasonably possible.
  • Assesses imminently threatening or potentially dangerous situations and notifies police or other authority when necessary and appropriate.
  • Prepares daily report of activities, including abnormal incidents (property damage, hostile/suspicious individuals, etc.) and infrastructure security issues (unlocked doors, non-functioning light fixtures that create an unsafe environment, etc.).
  • General administrative support for the Division of Unemployment Insurance. Will include word processing work, and using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which may include covering the dock entrance, and filling in where needed in other areas of the department.

  • The candidate selected for the position must successfully pass a background check.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force, following appropriate safety procedures; Ability to control others (body strength and agility of all four limbs is necessary); Walking / standing more than 60% of time.
  • Must have basic computer skills, including word processing and Excel spreadsheets.

Highly Desirable Skills and Abilities The best candidates will possess the following:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Previous experience working as a security guard/officer at a commercial or government facility,
  • At least one year prior experience providing security service for buildings and grounds,
  • Strong oral and written communication skills,
  • Experience and ability to work with diverse groups of people,
  • Coursework or training in security or law enforcement safety techniques and methods (please submit copies of any certificates or certifications with your application materials),
  • Effective conflict resolution skills,
  • Attention to detail,
  • Excellent customer service skills,
  • Experience a using metal detector and wand,
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Experience using computers: familiar with Google Suite, Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to use proprietary software.
  • While not required, this position will benefit from bilingual fluency (read, write, speak) in both English and Spanish.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – Ability to respond effectively and positively to feedback and present a courteous, professional, helpful attitude as a representative of CDLE

  • Keen observation skills – checks daily for safety and security issues inside and outside the building; monitors employees, claimants, and other persons for safety and security threats.

Conditions Of Employment

  • Must be a Colorado resident at time of application.

Appeal Rights

While a salary range is posted for this position, an eventual salary offer is determined by a comprehensive salary analysis, which considers multiple factors including but not limited to education and experience compared to others in the organization doing substantially similar work.
