The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is the agency charged with licensing and regulating State of Florida businesses and professionals, such as cosmetologists, veterinarians, condominiums, hotels, and restaurants. The Work You Will Do:

 

This position is located within the Doral office of the Division of Florida Condominium, Timeshares and Mobile Homes and reports to the Bureau Chief of Compliance.  This position is responsible for

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Evaluates investigative reports and evidence;
  • Analyzes violations of statutes or administrative rules for regulated professions and recommends appropriate action;
  • Researches/drafts/reviews/amends pleadings, complaints, motions, dismissal orders, consent orders, settlement agreements and memoranda of law;
  • Negotiates settlements;
  • Reviews, edits and evaluates proposed rule packages;
  • Responds to consumer and industry inquiries;
  • Analyzes bills;
  • Compiles exhibits;
  • Prepares witnesses to testify;
  • Takes and defends depositions;
  • Initiates and responds to discovery;

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skill in drafting legal documents;
  • Skill in managing multiple complex cases; Ability to prioritize work;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment; Ability to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to conduct legal research;
  • Ability to make oral presentations in court and in large groups;
  • Ability to recognize and act on emerging issues and shifting priorities; Ability to travel 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Must have a valid driver's license; and
  • Must be a member of the Florida Bar in good standing; and
  • Must have at least one year of professional experience in the practice of law. 

 

Preferences:
 

  • Must be a member of the Florida Bar in good standing
