The purpose of Florida educator certification is to support the academic achievement of our students by assuring that our educators are professionally qualified for highly effective instruction. Florida educators must be certified to teach in our public schools and in many of our private schools. Educators include classroom teachers, school administrators, and other support professionals, such as guidance counselors and media specialists. DESCRIPTION

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:
- Employee’s time and effort are assigned to a dedicated function as is indicated on the monthly payroll.
- The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.
- The employee must interact courteously with others.
- The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.
- Handles confidential communications, correspondence, reports, and files in a confidential manner.
- Assists in reviewing and processing department reorganization initiatives.
General Responsibilities:
- This position performs highly responsible and confidential administrative work assisting the Chief of Educator Certification and the BEC the Office Manager.
- This position requires excellent customer service skills, good judgment, the ability to work independently, and the ability to attain an acceptable information response rate in a high-volume work environment.
- Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide clerical and administrative support services to the BEC managers.
- Assist with preparing Letter of No Objection packets and communicates with companies seeking letters.
- Attend personnel training/meetings to obtain Department policy changes for the Bureau to support the personnel liaison.
- Coordinate supply and equipment requisitions for the BEC.
- Prepare small purchase orders and assists with the invoicing process.
- Schedule staff meetings for the bureau.
- Track maintenance needs and submits requests to General Services.
- Complete any Special Projects as assigned by the Chief.
- Update office files and organize a digital filing system.
- Perform other duties as required to maintain an efficient workflow within the BEC.
- Confidentiality will be maintained at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Florida State Board of Education Rules and procedures governing issuance of Florida Educator Certificates.
- Ability to organize work activities, to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, to exercise mature judgment, to work independently, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong customer service is critical.
- Experience with the Versa certification management systems.
