The Idaho State Police is seeking applicants to fill an Evidence/Technical Records Specialist 1 position in District 6 Patrol. This position provides a variety of records support functions; reviews and process documents; determines and explains compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and policies and takes appropriate action; maintains a manual or computerized records system; performs related work.
PLEASE NOTE: The successful applicant will be required to complete a background investigation and polygraph examination.

Example Of Duties
- Maintain and work with the Tiburon Records Management System (RMS) to include data entry and records updates.
- Process public records requests as required by state law through GovQA.
- Complete and distribute digital media requests related to court cases and public records requests.
- Monitor district email accounts to include completing court and prosecutorial documentation requests.
- Assist with answering district main phone lines and aid the public related to Idaho State Police operations.
- Use a variety of Windows based computer programs such as word and excel to compile statistical data and reports.
- Assist Troopers with agency needs, documentation, and maintaining case files.
- Receive and store a wide variety of forensic evidence (including drugs, chemicals, biological fluids, blood/semen-stained items, guns/ammunition, and objects for fingerprint testing); follow a series of policies and procedures regarding evidence to ensure preservation and integrity of evidence, including maintaining the chain of custody.
- Provide training to local law enforcement agency staff in proper techniques of evidence packaging, preservation, and storage.
- Clean and maintain an organized workplace.
- Research cases and fill out paperwork for evidence destruction.
- Notify and release property to rightful owners.
- Maintain enough supplies for evidence entry.
- Process abandoned vehicles and tow sheets.
- Enter and submit evidence into the lab.
- Other duties as assigned to include local errands to the post office and bank.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors.
- Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems.
- Interpreting, explaining, and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments.
- Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system.
- Office, record, and data management principles
- MS-Windows-based computer operating software programs (database, word processing, spreadsheet)
- Assessing and applying guidance imposed by statute, regulation, policy, or procedure.
- Composing and proofreading business correspondence.
- Providing customer service and customer communication.
