The Idaho Department of Correction has a vacancy for an Instructor, at the Idaho Correctional Institution - Orofino, in Orofino, Idaho. Applicants must be willing to work in a Correctional environment and the incumbent will be required to work in direct contact with residents both one-on-one and in a group setting. The desirable candidate should have experience working with adult learners and knowledge of GED curriculum.

Hiring lists may be created from open competitive, IDOC Department Promotional, or Statewide promotional applicants. The applications may also be used for future full or part time vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months.

- Work 1:1 and in groups with residents in a state correctional facility towards completion of college and career readiness standards, computer applications, and other post-secondary learning opportunities
- Provides instructions and evaluate student's progress
- Monitor student's behavior to maintain discipline and ensure safety and security of fellow students, self, staff, equipment, and materials
- Maintain student records and prepare conduct reports
- Candidates must be eligible for an Idaho Standard Secondary Education Certificate; OR eligible for an Occupational Specialist Certificate; OR have a Bachelor's degree and two years experience teaching individuals in a group setting
- Willing to work in a correctional setting
To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:
- Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing
- Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
- Having a history of law-abiding behavior
- Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI's, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment
- Have been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors
- Have a dishonorable discharge from military service
- Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs
- Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody where the vacancy exists
- Are currently under IDOC supervision or probation (must be released from IDOC supervision or probation for at least one year)
