Position Overview
Under general supervision of the Public Service Administrator (Business Administrator), performs technical accounting work in maintaining the proper coordination of the procurement functions and the submission of appropriate purchase request documents; verifies vouchers, invoices, and requisitions requiring cross-reference with contractual agreements or other documents; posts financial information to the Illinois Government Purchasing System (IGPS)
Job Responsibilities
- Prepares obligation documents for approval of goods and services needed
- Verifies vouchers, invoices and requisitions by cross-referencing expenditures of obligating documents
- Prepares financial statements and reports with obligation levels in regard to departmental allotments and reconciles Detail Object spending to Blanket expenditures
- Gathers and compiles information to assist in the preparation of financial reports and posts financial information to the IGPS for budgeting purposes
- Monitors expenditures for staff travel and reviews forms to ensure proper and accurate completion of Travel Vouchers
- Serves as back-up to Account Technicians performing duties in payroll, timekeeping, and vouchering in their absence
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course or three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires working knowledge of accounting techniques
- requires working knowledge of state or non-state account procedures
- requires working knowledge of office methods and procedures
- requires working knowledge of principles and functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment

- Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check
