Position Overview

Under general direction of the Clinical Services Supervisor at Pinckneyville Correctional Center, directs the case management services at Murphysboro Re-Entry Center. Coordinates the flow of information to and from the counselors, relative to assignments. Coordinates the preparation of psychological and psychiatric referrals. Supervises staff.


Job Responsibilities

1. Supervises staff.

2. Directs counselors by setting forth specific behavioral objectives to be achieved by the counselor.

3. Coordinates the preparation of psychological and psychiatric referrals.

4. Monitors staff engaged in appropriate release procedures and pre-release processing.

5. Participates in standing committees such as Adjustment, Assignment or Program Teams.

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Requirements

1. Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college supplemented by a master's degree in behavioral or social sciences.
2. Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in corrections, behavioral, social sciences or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Thorough knowledge of counseling and guidance principles and practices of criminology, corrections or casework.
2. Thorough knowledge of the folkways and mores of nationality, racial or social groups.
3. Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of sociological and psychological services.


Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to pass the Illinois Department of Corrections background check.
