Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a highly driven Office Associate. This position will work in the Stateville Correctional Center Record Office. This position includes various office functions. Some tasks include Alpha-Numeric filing, data entry, and clerical duties. Job Responsibilities

  • In conformance with existing Federal and State statutes, as well as administrative and institutional directives, receives and prepares documents necessary for the release of Individuals in Custody from the facility including court writs, medical furloughs, etc.
  • Prepares and keyboards documents, correspondence, memos, and statistical reports, some of a legal nature, as required.
  • Receives writ packets from other institutions and prepares them for release on court writs and medical furloughs. Tracks the dispositions of these writs to determine when the Individual in Custody will be sent back to their parent facility; Prepares list for transfer.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries from attorneys and physicians regarding the status of Individuals in Custody furloughs and writs, requiring thorough knowledge of Agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 45 words per minute.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law of changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.
