The agency administers a regulatory and tax collection system for casino gambling, video gaming, and sports wagering in Illinois.

Gaming Special Agent Trainee / Waukegan
Essential Functions
As a sworn armed peace officer, serves as a Gaming Special Agent Trainee, for a period of twelve (12) months, participates in mandatory accredited police academy training program and fitness trainings, including but not limited to : Firearms;
Professional; Fitness.
- Receives on-the-job training and instruction on the Illinois Gambling Act, Sports Wagering Act, State Fair Gaming Act, and any other statutes for which the Illinois Gaming Board has jurisdiction.
- Processes casino and video gaming applications for licenses.
- Reviews and monitors compliance with gaming regulations related to cash counts, chip inventories, payoff percentages of electronic gaming devices and filing of federal cash transaction reports.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in criminal justice, law enforcement, pre-law, or business administration.
- Requires successful completion of the firearms qualification course during the first 12 months of employment.
- Requires successful completion of a basic law enforcement training program at an accredited police academy during the first 12 months of employment.
Conditions of Employment
- At the time of hire, possess sufficient physical fitness to pass / complete the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test.
- At the time of hire, have a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card.
- Requires ability to perform shift work, including weekends and holidays.
- Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
- Pass Illinois Gaming Board’s background investigation (background check).
- Must comply with the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act : No State employee who works for the Illinois Gaming Board, or spouse or immediate family member living with, such person shall, during State employment, hold an ownership interest in, other than a passive interest in, a publicly traded company, in any gaming license under the Illinois Gambling Act, the Video Gaming Act, the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975, or the Sports Wagering Act.
- Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act : No person shall be employed to serve the Board who is, or whose spouse, parent or child is, an official of, or has a financial interest in or financial relation with, any operator engaged in gambling operations within this State, or any organization engaged in conducting horse racing within this State.
- Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act : For the one year immediately preceding employment, an employee shall not have been employed or received compensation or fees for services from a person or entity, or its parent or affiliate, that has engaged in business with the Board, a licensee, or a licensee under the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975.
