Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Storekeeper I for the Elgin Mental Health Center located in Elgin, Illinois to operate and maintain one of the Central Stores. Receives and completes requisitions, loads, and unloads trucks. Processes and ships orders both within and outside the Center. Checks quantity and quality of incoming merchandise of goods, such as cups, cleaning supplies, food, medical, housekeeping, etc. Checks, fills and completes approved store requisitions and requests. Rotates stock. Operates equipment including, but not limited to, hand trucks, dollies, forklifts, scales, etc.
Job Responsibilities
- Operates and maintains one of the Central Stores at Elgin Mental Health Center.
- Checks quantity and quality of incoming merchandise to see that it conforms to ordered and prescribed specifications.
- Checks and fills approved store requisitions and requests.
- Prepares and assists in the preparation of requisitions and requests for purchase of stock replacement.
- Rotates stock to ensure oldest goods are used first.
- Loads and unloads trucks.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school.
- Requires one year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to lift up to 65 pounds with assistance.
- Requires the ability to travel in performance of job duties.
- Requires appropriate valid driver’s license.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
