Job Description
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Clerk Advanced to join the team at the Civil Commitment Unit for Sex Offenders (CCUSO). This is a full-time position with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development and a weekly schedule of 7:30 am – 4:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch break.

This is a full-time position with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development and a weekly schedule of 7:30 am – 4:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
This position oversees the CCUSO Commissary Program and includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
- fills patient commissary orders
- orders products through approved vendors and stocks shelves as needed
- ensures accurate inventory when items are received by using the CCUSO Commissary entry form
- adheres to state auditing guidelines and follows up on any discrepancies discovered
- delivers products to designated areas by lifting, pushing, and pulling up to and over 50 lbs.
- schedules and collaborates with other staff members to conduct quarterly inventory counts
- notifies patients of any changes or updates to services via written memo (according to the CCUSO Patient Handbook and applicable CCUSO policy/procedure)
- verifies that funds are available in patient's account before purchasing requested items
- completes shopping at local stores for approved items requested for patients
- maintains a valid driver’s license and operates a state vehicle
- Clerical Duties:
- performs routine clerical tasks such as scanning, filing, conversion of documents to PDF, saving documents to the correct location on electronic systems, faxing, copying, filing documentation, and typing
- maintains inventory of necessary office supplies and places orders with appropriate vendors for needed supplies
- provides coverage for other clerical staff during absences
- takes meeting minutes for the Treatment Team, Transitional Release Program (TRP) Treatment Team, and CCUSO Leadership Team

- Experience equal to one year of full-time clerical office or closely related work.
- A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in number one), where one month of accredited post-high school course work in a secretarial, business, or closely related program equals one month of full-time experience.
- A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in number one), where 30 semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
- A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in numbers one through three), where certification from the state of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program equals six months of full-time experience.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of six months of full-time work as a Clerk.
