The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is responsible for fairly and efficiently collecting state tax revenues to fund public services, to regulate charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverage and tobacco, and to support state agencies in the collection of overdue debts. Collectively, each program, unit, division and group work together to provide the core services to taxpayers of the State of Louisiana and stakeholders of the agency. LDR is comprised of the following groups: Tax Collection, Charitable Gaming, Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), Debt Recovery, and Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission.
The Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control (ATC) is responsible for overseeing the alcoholic and tobacco industries within the state. The office is comprised of four divisions: Administrative, Business, Legal and Enforcement.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provides administrative and clerical support to the Deputy Assistant Secretary and Legal Division. Coordinates the flow of paperwork among various sections in the office.
- Receives requests for assistance. Communicates with staff and other state and local government officials as needed to assess urgency of situations.
- Compiles information for responding to inquiries.
- Responds to telephone calls related to sensitive matters, provides assistance/resolution when possible or seeks direction from the Commissioner as required.
No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

VACANCY INFORMATION:

This position will be filled as a Classified WAE (CWAE). Incumbents in these positions may not work more than 1,245 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first.
This position will be domiciled in East Baton Rouge Parish. Applicants must select this parish on their application to indicate that they are available to work in the parish of this vacancy.
A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on the basis of six months of training for six months of experience for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.
NOTE:
Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.

Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

To provide secretarial support for a high-level manager or low- to mid-level administrator, and in some cases, subordinate staff of that individual.

Differs from Administrative Assistant 3 by the presence of responsibility for serving as secretarial support to a high-level manager or low- to mid-level administrator.
Differs from Administrative Assistant 5 by the absence of responsibility for serving as special assistant to a classified/unclassified executive or high-ranking classified administrator.
Responds to requests for information; may require interpretation of department rules and regulations.
Independently composes and types correspondence involving complex, sensitive, and non-routine matters.
Represent supervisor in various matters, providing input, and possibly exercising signature authority.
Serves as liaison between supervisor and staff members.
Assesses importance of issues or conflicts, and briefs supervisor.
Compiles and types special reports by selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, electronic files, etc.
