The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans’ population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative service in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. This position is located in the Dietary Department of the SW Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana.
PRN/WAE/Part Time appointments are available. Classified WAE positions are not to exceed 1,245 hours in a 12-month period.
The Food Service Specialist 1 position pay depends upon experience, plus $2.00 per hour physically worked.

Washes, chops, and cuts vegetables; opens cans and assists food preparation specialists in preparing foods prior to cooking.
Measures and assembles ingredients.
Washes dishes and pots.
Performs duties that involve the cleaning and sanitation of the food service area.
Prepares trays and special formulas for special diets.
Gathers materials necessary for dough making.
Assists in mixing, kneading, and preparing breads, rolls, biscuits, cakes, etc.
