MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid Louisiana license or temporary permit to practice practical nursing or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state plus two years of practical nursing experience.Function of Work:To provide basic nursing care to assigned patients/clients in stable conditions and in predictable situations in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act.
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
General from a Registered Nurse.
Supervision Exercised:
Functional over a group of Practical Nurses of lower levels and paraprofessionals.
Location of Work:
Statewide--health care facilities; correctional facilities.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Practical Nurse--Licensed, 2 by the assignment of supervisory and/or specialized and technical nursing duties.Provide nursing services, within the scope of LPN Licensure, supervised by a Registered Nurse, to all behavioral health clients (mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders) in ImCal HSA behavioral health clinics.
70% Provide Nursing Services within the scope of LPN Licensure, supervised by a RN, to clients at IMCAL HSA Behavioral Health Clinics in collaboration with psychiatrist/prescriber and primary clinician, staffing cases as necessary. Services include but are not limited to; complete Nursing/Medical Intake; carry out physician orders conduct urine drug screens, pregnancy tests, and TB tests, including appropriate follow-up, administering intramuscular injections, measure vital signs and other pertinent measurements and documenting on Nurses Note; assist RN with annual staff health screens/TB testing; provide clients with lab orders; provide health information to employees and clients of IMCAL HSA re: Smoking Cessation.
Other Nursing Service Duties
20% Answer client messages/calls in a timely manner; call out new prescriptions and refills as ordered, complete Prior Authorizations; review labs and place in physician mailbox and/or notify physician if lab results warrant; relay client messages to prescriber; answer prescriber EHR messages.
HIV Nurse Duties
5% Provide specialized HIV Prevention Health counseling and HIV Rapid Testing in accordance with CDC recommended guidelines; collect oral specimens; administer Rapid HIV Testing for Behavioral Health clients; assure appropriate documentation, and make appropriate referrals for clients testing positive for HIV.
Other Duties
5% Attend required trainings, meetings, and staffing as requested by supervisor and as per IMCAL HSA Policy and Procedure; perform additional duties assigned by supervisor, attend required meetings/trainings as per policy and procedure and as requested by supervisor to maintain all required competencies; maintain BCLS/CPR certification.
