What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Director position at State of Louisiana?
The unclassified position of Medical Director is located at Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority (JPHSA). JPHSA, a Local Governing Entity, is a special parish district within the meaning of Art. VI. Sec. 19 of the Louisiana Constitution and a political subdivision of the state. JPHSA constitutes a body corporate in law with all the powers of a corporation, including the power to perform in its corporate capacity.
JPHSA provides local accountability and management of behavioral health and intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities services as well as fully integrated primary care services. The three service divisions of JPHSA are: Behavioral Health Community Services, JeffCare, and Developmental Disabilities Community Services. Through its Centralized Care Coordination program, JPHSA ensures “no wrong door” entry and fully coordinated services.
The Medical Director must hold a Doctorate of Medicine or a Doctorate of Osteopathy, a current license to practice in the State of Louisiana, board certification or eligibility in psychiatry, a minimum of five years experience in clinical supervision, and a minimum of three years administrative experience.
The Medical Director assumes ultimate clinical authority over all behavioral health (BH) physicians in JeffCare, and also functions as a team member and collaborator for the Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Community Services divisions. The Medical Director works with the interdisciplinary teams in various service divisions to ensure all individuals served receive appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, whenever indicated. The JeffCare Division Director provides direct line supervision, inclusive of clinical and administrative functions. The Executive Director provides functional supervision as needed to ensure compliance with federal/state rules and regulations.
