To maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy mobile equipment or complex mechanical systems on mobile equipment used in the maintenance of a port facility.
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
Direct from Port Facility Maintenance Foreman.
Supervision Exercised:
May oversee work of co-workers assigned to assist on specific tasks.
Location of Work:
May be used by all Port Authorities.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Port Facility Maintenance Specialists by the responsibility of performing maintenance and repairs on all machinery within the Maintenance Department.
Differs form Port Facility Maintenance Foreman by the absence of full supervisory responsibilities over subordinates or over the operation of port facility maintenance operations.Overhaul, rebuild, and/or repair heavy equipment.
Repair engines, transmissions, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, gear reduction systems electrical systems, suspension systems, brake systems, exhaust emission control systems, etc.
Use visual and audible inspection to diagnose problems with heavy equipment.
Perform diagnostic tests to locate malfunctions of the various systems and determine necessary repairs.
Select the best work procedures to accomplish repair.
Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, on vehicles and equipment to keep them in good working order.
Assist other departments in maintenance of the District's buildings and facilities.
Salary : $4,177 - $7,518
