The Office of Academic Affairs at LSU Shreveport is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic-thinking Assistant to the Provost to provide support for our academic mission.
The primary responsibilities of the Assistant include managing the Provost’s schedule, preparing the Provost for meetings, and helping the Provost prepare internal and external reports.
In addition, this position supports the academic mission of the University through a variety of collaborative functions facilitating curriculum and faculty operations across campus.
Other key responsibilities include :
- Maintaining paperwork for programs approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors and State of Louisiana Board of Regents.
- Effectively communicating with multiple offices and departments across campus on behalf of the Provost and Vice Chancellor.
- Managing and supervising the office’s administrative support staff and ensuring the smooth operation of the office.
- Organizing the Academic Awards Convocation and other events and projects.
- Maintaining databases on faculty status, including eligibility for promotion / tenure according to policy.
- Providing travel arrangements and expense reconciliation for the Provost and Vice Chancellor.
- Maintaining all offer letters / additional compensation paperwork for faculty and adjuncts.
- Reviewing and becoming familiar with policy statements to determine if updates / corrections are needed.
- Preparing paperwork for professorship applications.
- Conducting annual inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Greeting visitors, students, and faculty and assisting them as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Required : Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- Preferred : Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task;
- experience in event or project management, especially in a Higher Ed setting; ability to maintain confidentiality and to work independently;
demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
