Job Description
This employee is Secretary to the Region Manager. The Region Manager’s Secretary position requires a high level of professionalism. Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, schedule appointments and conferences for the Region Manager. Knowledgeable of the Agency’s and the department’s operations, policies and procedures, and the Region Manager’s viewpoint. Establishes and maintains office files, logs, indexes, and records. Ability to take minutes of meetings and transcribe the minutes. Experienced in the use of a computer and various software packages, i.e. WORD, EXCEL, SIGMA, OMNI, etc. Proofread documents and reports for typographical and grammatical errors.

Required Education And Experience
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to advanced 8-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8.
OR
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including two years equivalent to experienced E7-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary 7, or Legal Secretary 7.
Additional Requirements And Information
Certain positions may require a criminal history background check.
New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
All required documents must be attached and submitted at the time of application for further consideration. Applications must be submitted through NEOGOV to be considered. Applicants will need to provide proof of passing a typing test at the interview.
