What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Engineer 9-P11 - Bureau of Bridges and Structures position at State of Michigan?
This position is responsible for reviewing basic and intermediate level contract documents (e.g., non-prestressed concrete, bridge steel rolled beams, bridge bearings, retrofit steel components, and steel highway structures) and fabrication documents (e.g., request for information, shop detail drawing, and nonconformance reports) for bridge, culvert, and highway structures. This position is also responsible for participating in fabrication inspections and investigating (e.g., checking records from shop, checking the weather) fabrication issues, attending consultant coordination activities, coordinating annual program document reviews, and developing and maintaining tracking spreadsheets.
The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (9) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (P11) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Transportation Engineer 10
One year of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 9.
Transportation Engineer P11
Two years of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 10.Transportation Engineer 9 - 12
Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may be substituted for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9-12 levels. This substitution may only be used once for any employee for qualification of appointment or early reclassification.Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
Possession of Michigan Concrete Association (MCA) Field Testing Technician Certification or possession within 12 months of the date of hire into the position.
Possession of American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Testing Technician-Grade I Certification or possession within 12 months of the date of hire into the position.
Possession of Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Level I & II Certification or possession within 24 months of the date of hire into the position.
