Job Summary
College for Kids & Teens Camp Ambassadors (CAs) are responsible for providing a fun and safe environment for all attendants. CAs will assist instructors and lead in a variety of tasks. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, energetic personalities, and the ability to work closely and patiently with children. CAs will need to work well with others in accomplishing given goals and will take a proactive approach to performing assigned duties.
- Present and promote a positive image of MSUM and College for Kids & Teens through business like conduct, attitude and appearance. Customer service focused, exhibiting helpful, friendly and courteous service.
- Greet all members and youth participants in a professional manner as they arrive for camp activities.
- Provide efficient, consistent, and courteous service to all children
- Welcome diversity and work to create inclusive environment
- Promote all aspects and benefits of the camp in a positive manner and lead by example.
- Be knowledgeable of camp programs and communicate with instructors for best ways to support their class.
- Ensure safety in camp activities and events. Tasks would include, but are not limited to, child check-in/check-out, parent/guardian communication, child supervision, etc.
- Keep activity area organized and clean and complete cleaning tasks as assigned for each session.
- Be aware of any risks and seek assistance when needed from staff and supervisors. Report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Monitor youth and camp participants to create positive interactions and a fun environment for activities.
- Respond immediately in the event of an emergency in accordance with MSUM’s procedures and guidelines. Conduct first aid as needed.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 15 years of age or older
- Must be an enrolled student at a secondary or post-secondary institution
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing sufficiently enough to provide program information to parents, staff, and faculty
- Pass a general background check upon offer of position
- Currently have or ability to be CPR certified (will train).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising and/or teaching children (e.g., coaching, babysitting, nannying)
- Interpersonal and Customer Service Skills
- Demonstratable skills in conflict management and resolution
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand or sit for extended periods of time
Additional Requirements
This position requires the completion of a successful background check.
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
