Maintenance Grounds Manager
The Missouri State Fair is one of the oldest in the nation and continues to be the state's largest agricultural and tourism event located in Sedalia, Missouri. The State Fair provides a setting for Missouri's producers, agricultural leaders and farm families to increase awareness of our state's strong agricultural heritage. We are currently looking for a Maintenance Grounds Manager to help maintain the 596-acre grounds.
Title: Maintenance Grounds Manager
Location: Sedalia, Missouri
Salary: $57,161.52 annually (plus full state benefit package)
Things You'll Do:
- Manage planning of activities of full time and seasonal departments.
- Manage a portfolio of construction and maintenance projects including capital improvement and building maintenance, activities related to fair set up and take down, and general fairgrounds maintenance.
- Manage the maintenance and improvements on 80 buildings, including historical buildings on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.
- Prepare division reports, research documents, and contracts.
- Coordinate long- and short-range planning for the division; research new division projects; develop projects and initiate new division programs.
- Prepare documents establishing procedures for the division.
- Provide support to activities for program employees.
- Monitor and assist all agencies and their personnel contracted during the Missouri State Fair which includes but is not limited to traffic control, parking lot personnel.
- Supervision of Fairgrounds maintenance, skilled labor teams and offender labor crews.
- Prepare division budgets and expenditures.
- Respond to comments and concerns with regard to the division.
- Understand and manage safety issues related to the division.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Six (6) or more years of professional or technical experience in a related industry. Required knowledge and skills may be obtained through work experience or through the completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree program.
- Knowledge of industry trends related to the department or division.
- Professional communication skills, including written, oral, telephone and interpersonal; strong supervisory skills, conflict management/customer service skills; problem solving and organization.
- Ability to manage contractors and budgets and coordinate projects with various departments.
- Ability to be a self-motivated, effective multitasker with the ability to work efficiently with minimal or no supervision.
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to execute projects on time, with extreme accuracy, a collaborative work style and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency with computers, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to obtain forklift license through on-site training.
Special Qualifications:
- Ability to work in environments that may include working with hazardous substances heat/cold, noise, unprotected heights, bright/dim lighting and mechanical hazards.
- Ability to work extra daily hours and extended periods of time with no days off during peak activity times.
