Workforce Development Policy Director
LOCATION: Office of Workforce Development (OWD) – Jefferson City, MO
TRAVEL: Approximately 25%

What you’ll do:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Assist Director in strategic planning activities;
- Lead implementation of Office of Workforce Development (OWD) policy framework initiatives;
- Lead design and implementation of OWD strategic priorities and special initiatives;
- Assist Director in inter-agency policy development and strategic initiatives;
- Assist Director in external relations, communications, and outreach;
- Assist Director in cultivating a diverse, dynamic, and experienced senior leadership team;
- Assist Director in identifying opportunities for community engagement that support attainment of policy framework goals and strategic initiatives;
- Serve as Director’s liaison to national workforce associations and organizations such as NGA, NASWA, NAWB;
- Serve as Director’s liaison to Missouri General Assembly / backup to DHEWD Legislative Liaison;
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Director and report back with relevant information;
- Draft correspondence, presentations, briefing documents, and official statements;
- Serve as a sounding board to assist with brainstorming relevant subject matter;
- Schedule and prioritize appointments to maximize impact and efficiency of Director’s Office;
- Draft and maintain Missouri’s Workforce Development policy framework and goals;
- Coordinate the flow of information and communication in the Director’s Office.
- Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance
- Perform other related work as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Political Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Economics, or;
- Master's Degree or a juris doctorate degree, in Public Policy, Political Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Economics, or;
- At least 2 years experience in supporting political leadership in the public sector or with an advocacy group;
- At least 2 years experience in developing policy frameworks and conducting external communication;
- At least1 year experience in managing administrative operations;
- Work full time in Jefferson City, Missouri.
