The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents administer one or more programs or a major component of a large, complex program which affects a more targeted number of customers or clients; revise, recommend, and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements.
This position will serve as a Program Officer 2 for the Nevada Division of Emergency Management in the Preparedness Program. Duties will include supporting the State Training and Exercise Officers in their duties to offer deliverables to State, Local, and Tribal partners, as well as other stakeholders in Nevada. Support will range from assisting with scheduling of training and exercises, assisting students enroll in training courses offered by the Division, to assistance in providing needed documents for these events. Manage the training and qualification system website for all state sponsored training held. Assist the Division in preparing for regional workshops annually for the jurisdictions. Assisting with providing programmatic and financial reports on the program. Additional duties will include working as part of the Nevada Operations Center staff during emergencies when activated to support jurisdictions and stakeholders across the state. Activation as a member of the Nevada Operations Center may be necessary in the event of a major emergency, may serve to disrupt/alter/revise or totally change all previously established work performance standards, requiring 100% of the time, until the emergency is over. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment and one year of professional experience in planning, coordinating and administering a program which included interpretation of laws and regulations; development of program policy and procedures; development and implementation of program performance standards and objectives for providing services; and development and implementation of eligibility requirements; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Program Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
