Purpose of Position

Why does the job exist?
This position devotes a substantial portion of time assigning and directly supervising eight (8) state employees by: assigning daily tasks, acting upon leave requests, conducting annual performance evaluations, recommending disciplinary actions, and conducting training. This position will also: interview and recommend selection of applicants, determine appropriate methods for addressing customer requests in a timely and professional manner, and manage multiple maintenance and landscaping projects.
The Staff/Facility Manager is responsible for identifying deficiencies in state-owned building systems and managing the flow of work requests through the Work Control Center. The Incumbent will communicate and coordinate with building tenants to accomplish scheduled work and/or to respond to emergencies, secure state property and provide a safe work environment for state employees.
How does it get done?
This position will be responsible for managing general facility services for the General Services Department owned Pine Tree Campus; a five (5) building, 200,000 square foot office complex. Job duties for this position include: all aspects of building operations & maintenance, developing and managing the O&M operating budget, completing work orders from building occupants, and providing oversight of maintenance and repair services, tenant comfort and cleanliness, and outdoor building maintenance and landscaping the entire complex.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position should have five (5) to ten (10) years maintenance, landscaping and custodial experience, as well as, ten (10) or more years of supervisory experience
Minimum Qualification
A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Continuous walking and standing; frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending/stooping, reaching below the knee, reaching above the shoulder level, climbing stairs, grasping and manipulating with hands; lifting items weighing 10-50 lbs. Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull 50 lbs. frequently. Occasional exposure to video displays and computer equipment. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and construction materials.
