GUNM Public Relations Coordinator

This position designs public relations campaigns for GEAR UP (GUNM) New Mexico. The position is responsible for organizing and coordinating events, writing and distributing press releases, and overseeing all aspects of GUNM social media.

• Manage all aspects of social media presence for GUNM via the platforms of Facebook, lnstagram, and Twitter (i.e., developing, posting, and monitoring content).
• Update the GUNM website and maintain the GUNM photo library.
• Oversee all media and advertising for national GEAR UP campaigns.
• Provide ongoing coverage of GEAR UP events, including: press releases, staff and student interviews, photography, and videography.
• Participate in NMHED staff meetings, statewide GEAR UP meetings, and regional or national conferences as required.

Students and staff in the GEAR UP School Districts throughout New Mexico.

• Experience in social media management
• Exemplary photography and videography skills
• Refined written skills and articulate public speaking ability
• Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Adobe Creative Suite Programs

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing and two (2) years of experience in journalism, advertising and and/or marketing. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated August 12, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

In addition, employees working in State correctional facilities who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to inmates are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Work will be performed primarily in an office setting, but on occasion will be performed in the outdoors during all types of weather conditions and in close proximity to fish and wildlife. Weekend and varied hours occasionally will be required for this position. Must be able to lift 60 pounds and operate computers and photography equipment.

This position is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
