What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheep Farm Manager - Piedmont Research and Education Center position at State of South Carolina?
Responsible for Sheep Farm at Piedmont REC. Duties include development and execution of total farm management, facilitate teaching and research activities to achieve objectives. Supervise staff and student employees. Completes other duties as assigned.
Operations: Plan, coordinate, and direct the daily operations of the Sheep Farm. Act independently on daily decisions and manages flock to meet research & teaching purposes. Collects & maintains routine flock records for breeding & production purposes. Monitors & manages feed, forage, supplies, and animal inventory. Maintains IACUC documents for AAALAC accreditation.
Facilities: Plans, organizes, and initiates actions related to Sheep Farm equipment and facilities use, repair, and maintenance. Coordinates activities and labor resources with research & teaching faculty. Develops and implements forage plan for utilization of pastures and stored forages.
Supervision: Organizing work schedules for Sheep Farm staff and student employees. Planning and coordination of labor with varying production, research, and teaching demands. Supervision of all Sheep Farm employees and conducting evaluations of employee performance as appropriate.
Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science or related field
