What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary, Part-time Note-Taker/Captionist position at State of South Carolina?
- Provide access to classroom instruction by taking notes and documenting important class information and announcements.
- Report to assigned classes at the respective campus to provide services.
- Maintain a neutral support role while providing access to assigned classes and ensuring the student remains the primary participant.
- After the assigned class, report back to Student Disability Services to turn in work and distribute it to the appropriate parties.
- If working with a visually impaired student, provide auditory access to visual information, including text, images, information on the board/projector, and nonverbal communication, and scribe as needed.
- If working with a mobility impaired student, scribe for the student and assist them with navigating materials and technology.
- Provide transcript for videos when captioning tasks are assigned and submit them to SDS Office.
- Communicate with the office of Student Disability Services when other issues arise.
- Attend specific orientation and training for captioning and/or notetaking.
