UTAH HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER
The State of Utah is looking to hire a full-time Utah Highway Patrol Trooper. Are you ready to embark on a career in law enforcement? A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A UTAH HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER
As one of our Utah Highway Patrol Troopers, you’ll do an exceptional job of keeping our citizens safe and have a reputation for being helpful and willing to serve our community. Whether it is patrolling the highways to monitor traffic and deter crime, investigating crimes and accidents, helping people in trouble, or providing other law enforcement services, you love playing an active part in our exceptional community. You take your responsibility to the citizens of Utah seriously. Your integrity is impeccable and you provide honest and credible testimony in court as needed.
Though most of your law enforcement work engages your love for interacting with people, you also spend some time applying your attention to detail in preparing reports for investigations and accidents. You are organized and carefully keep track of evidence, paperwork, warrants, and equipment. You show great respect for others and their property. You maintain your assigned vehicles and equipment with care. Your self-motivation is evident as you are always looking for ways to learn and improve, attending training sessions regularly and keeping your credentials up-to-date. You get great satisfaction from helping make Utah such a great place to live!

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- 21 years of age or older, no maximum age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- United States citizen
- A non US citizen that has a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) card who: 1) has been in the United States legally for at least five(5) years AND 2) has legal authorization to work in the United States. Only having EAD status does NOT qualify you for this position.
- Must pass NPOST test - 70% in each category and 70% overall - does not need to be taken prior to application
- One for One salary credit may be given for prior law enforcement experience
- $5,000 training reimbursement given to those who recently self-sponsored through a Utah POST satellite academy
- $2,500 hiring bonus for those with prior law enforcement experience
- $2,500 signing bonus to a new hired trooper, not captured in the two above, upon POST graduation/certification

- Physical Assessment Testing (PT) will be done at various locations throughout the state. T he PT testing will take place between August 9, 2024 - August 23, 2024 . You will be contacted and additional information with specific dates and locations for this testing process will be sent out via email at a later date. Please click HERE for the UHP PT Standards.
- If you are NOT currently POST Certified (attended the police academy) you MUST take and pass the National Police Officer Selection Test (NPOST). This test MUST be completed by August 23, 2024. You MUST pass this test with a 70% or above in every category and overall. For additional information about the POST test can be found HERE . If you have already taken the NPOST with a passing score you do not need to retake it, regardless of how long ago it was taken.
