The shift being recruited for is split 5:30 am -11:30 am & 2:00 pm -8:00 pm, with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday off.

This is a Food Service Worker position in the satellite meal service areas or main kitchen of the Washington Veterans Home, maintaining secondary responsibility for basic food handling for all meals served to residents. 
 
Works in a food service department in a health care institution which provides 30,000 plus meal equivalents per month.  Approximately 70% of the meal and meal equivalents require modifications to meet resident's special meal/diet needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Portion and dish-up foods for service in the cafeteria or on the serving line following portions specified on serving guides and recipes.

Prepare food, clean and sanitize equipment and area, and comply with safe food handling practices.

Perform a variety of food preparation duties following specific sanitation principles and utilizing safe working methods.Required Qualifications: 
Current, Valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit

Ability to lift/push/pull frequently up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree or certificate in Culinary Arts.

Serve Safe certified.

Experience  with geriatric  and/or  healthcare  institutional setting.

Experience working with residents with dementia and/or mental health diagnoses.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Must comply with health screening requirements by undergoing a tuberculosis skin test.
