Position Summary
As the Director of the Bureau of Technical Services, provide broad oversight and management of the real estate, environmental, utilities, access, survey and mapping, geotechnical, pavement, and quality assurance programs. This includes managing the acquisition appraisal, relocation, and property management of real estate; materials evaluation, testing and research; independent quality assurance; geotechnical investigation and analysis; pavement studies and maintaining the Departments pavement management system.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range 81-01 with an annual salary of $99,840-$111,717, plus excellent benefits. A 2 year career executive trial period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
WisDOT does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. For positions that do allow remote work flexibility, although residency in the State of WI is not required for permanent positions, it is not anticipated that working outside of WI or bordering cities will be allowed as positions may at times need to report to office locations in WI on short notice.

Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment. At this time, those who are unvaccinated are subject to weekly COVID-19 testing protocols.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates must have the following:
- Experience supervising/managing staff (including broad scope of management duties such as allocating resources, reviewing/assigning work, leading/motivating staff, etc.)
- Must include a minimum of 3 years of supervisory/management experience
- Experience managing at least one complex program/project, which may impact multiple program areas, has stakeholder impacts, and/or involves very public profile issues
- Experience managing multiple program areas
Well qualified applicants may have the following:
- Significant experience supervising/managing staff (including broad scope of management duties such as allocating resources, reviewing/assigning work, leading/motivating staff, etc.)
- Must include more than 3 years of supervisory/management experience
- Significant experience managing complex programs/projects, which may impact multiple program areas, has stakeholder impacts, and/or involves very public profile issues
- Significant experience managing multiple program areas
