But there’s more work to be done – that’s why we need you to join us.
Job Description
Your department
The Strategic Market Analysis team (CSA) is responsible for Statkraft’s long-term market view of power markets within which it operates. This includes developing a long-term view of power prices and high-quality insights to support business strategy and commercial processes. We are currently recruiting a Senior Power Market Analyst within this department to focus on multi-scenario fundamental analysis of the Nordic power market.
Your role
The last few years have shown that power markets can be volatile and unpredictable, driven for instance by weather events, policy decisions or global crises. In this context, fundamental scenario analysis can help us understand the range of possible outcomes including structural shifts in the future. The analysis will be performed using fundamental models as stochastic tools, representing outcomes beyond the standard long-term equilibrium. The aim is to inform investments, trading and origination on market risk/opportunities, and to support hedging and portfolio management.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Ensure having a solid market overview; close monitoring of power markets, identify market trends, investigate third-party analyses
- Undertake power market modelling; build scenarios, develop analysis products, and renew current analytical methods and processes
- Present outcomes of this analysis to internal decision-makers and leaders, interpret results and draw out trends relevant to our stakeholders
- Contribute to internal strategy and commercial decision-making processes (valuation, risk assessment, strategy processes, etc.)
You will work together with experienced analysts on the Nordic power market and collaborate closely with other analysis teams in Statkraft. Further analysis on outcome space for the development of the Nordic power market is in high demand within Statkraft and will complement the existing deliveries from the team.
Qualifications
We look for Senior Power Market Analysts with the essential skills to future-proof our business and renewable energy solutions. That includes:
- Master’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or similar
- Power market modelling experience, for instance EMPS/SDDP/BID3/Plexos or similar
- Coding experience, preferably in python
- Highly analytical, structured, thorough, and results-oriented
- Self-driven, motivated, curious, and positive team player
- Good collaboration skills and high integrity
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
