What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service & Install Apprentice position at Stealth Monitoring?
Position Summary
This is an entry level role for individuals new to the Electronic Security industry interested in receiving on the job training or individuals with limited experience looking to further develop their skills as a technician.
In this position, you will assist and support a lead technician in the implementation of Stealth Monitoring security systems installed on customer premises. You will learn and implement best practices and industry standards supporting low-voltage construction. Your day will vary with differing support tasks (such as cabling, conduit, and device installation) on the path to learning the trade and becoming a technician capable of installing and/or servicing systems independently. You will work directly with the Lead Installation Technician, receiving and completing assignments while retaining instruction that will aide in your personal growth and development of technical skills.
Core areas of on-the-job training:
Infrastructure:
- Installation of conduit, cabling, and support systems needed to interconnect systems and devices
- Installation of head end racking, shelving, enclosures, etc.
Video Systems:
- Installation of various Video systems (both Analog & Digital IP Systems), install and program NVR/DVR's, dress and route cable into closets, control rooms and panels, troubleshoot related systems and products Installation of Video (includes Axis, Avigilon, Hikvision, Geovision and similar)
- Troubleshoots & resolve network related issues (LAN, WLAN & WAN)
Access Control Systems:
- Installation of Access Control, Program Access Control Panels and Systems, (includes RBH, Hartman, Avigilon, Feenics and similar)
- Onsite troubleshooting of equipment as necessary
- Installation & Service of Mag Locks, electric strikes and low voltage electrical locking hardware, readers, openers, etc.
Intrusion Systems
- Installation and takeover of Intrusion Systems (includes DSC, Bosch, DMP, and similar)
- Onsite troubleshooting of Intrusion Systems (includes component replacement walk testing and programming)
Intercom Systems:
- Installation of Intercom Systems, (includes Mircom, Aiphone, and similar)
- Onsite troubleshooting of equipment as necessary
Daily Tasks
- Understand and execute projects as built in Installation packages consisting of Scope of Work, Theory of Operations, Drawings/Designs, Installation Standards, and other project supporting documentation
- Daily time submission
- Daily and direct communication of project status to Project Managers or Installation Coordinators
- Maintains safe and secure work environment by following safe practices
- Keeps customer’s security information confidential

Experience/Qualifications:
- Entry level, general construction or handyman skills are preferable
- Able to use MS Office tools and experience using a Windows PC
- Post-secondary education in a technology related field with an emphasis on computer/IT skills preferred
- Ability to obtain applicable state technician level licensing as required by authority having jurisdiction
- A clean criminal background and motor vehicle record in good standing.
- A valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation and applicable insurance to cover travel to and from job sites
- Ability to travel as passenger in lead technician company vehicle, where applicable
Working Conditions:
- Regional resource allocated to branch
- Working at various customer sites: commercial, residential multi-tenant, construction, etc.
- Indoor and outdoor working in all-weather condition at client sites
- Driving in all weather conditions from office to jobsite
- Excellent physical condition as the job requires lifting of equipment overhead weighing upwards of 50 lbs
- Ability to work at heights- at times climbing construction cranes and ability to maneuver/operate aerial lifts
- Flexibility to work beyond and/or outside regular working hours subject to customer commitments. Night shift, early morning, late start, etc.
- Ability to work on Saturday and Sunday as needed with or advance notice
- Travel 75-100%
