Capitol Stampings is looking a Production Planner with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude to join the Team! A Production Planner manages production scheduling, outside services, truck drivers and Receiving staff. He/She also coordinates forecasting, production scheduling with plant operations activities as these relate to the production plan. In addition, the Production Planner evaluates and recommends improvements to lower inventory, reduce stockouts and to produce more accurate schedules.

Position Details:

  • 1st Shift (6:00 am-3:30 pm)
  • Monday – Friday: 40 hour week with overtime available on Saturdays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans production schedules in two-week increments for all production departments
    based on customer requirements and work orders for new parts.
  • Reviews weekly production schedule at least twice weekly and works with
    production supervisors, sales and logistics staff to determine if requirements are
    valid, stocking levels are correct and schedule can accommodate exceptions,
    rushes or raw material shortages.
  • Reviews finished goods, shipped parts, receiving, raw material, and outside services on a daily basis to determine resolution of any problems in these areas.
  • Recommends and implements, as necessary, actions to reduce inventory or control
    inventory more efficiently.
  • Plans and controls inventory through the manufacturing system, physical inventory, tracking, and reporting.
  • Analyzes manufacturing capacity and resolves problems affecting scheduling or delivery to outsides services or customers in conjunction with production personnel, insides sales and logistics staff.
  • Supervises Logistics Department personnel including completion of appropriate documentation for performance appraisal, disciplinary incidents, termination and/or changes in compensation and responsibility working with Human Resources and the Director of Operations.
  • Participates as required in projects related to process improvement, cost reduction, inventory control, trucking and evaluation of outside suppliers.
  • Understands and ensures compliance with all safety and environmental requirements as well as housekeeping in areas in which direct reports work.



Job Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor s degree in business or technical field preferred.
  • Must be able to read and understand all blueprints and/or specifications.
  • Must have excellent analytical and quantitative skills and knowledge, an understanding of production and inventory control and manufacturing systems.
  • Five plus years of inventory control, production control, scheduling and/or logistics experience preferred.
  • Some experience with ISO certification and general Quality Control programs required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervisor s management as well as outside vendors.
  • Must have and wear protective gear designated for the Department and job.
  • Must be able to stand and walk around the production area for all or most of a regular work
  • Must be fork lift certified and able to able to lift up to 35 pounds on a regular basis
