Job Description
Position - Tower Top Hand
Tower Top Hand is responsible for performing construction tasks in the areas of tower erection, coaxial cable and antenna installation, fiber optic installation, antenna mount installation, RF testing/troubleshooting, DC Wiring and microwave installation. This position is for qualified candidates with experience in wireless construction. Top hand position will be required to perform the majority of elevated construction activities and will be asked to supervise entry level technicians, when applicable.
Duties and responsibilities:
*Installation and maintenance of mounts, platforms, antennas, RRU's, COVP's and other related equipment on towers, rooftops and other structures to expand and upgrade cellular networks.
*Installation and maintenance of coaxial and DC power/fiber optic transmission lines.
*Installation and maintenance of microwave equipment.
*Assist with testing of new and existing equipment. May include: sweep, PIM or fiber testing.
*Familiar with RET systems and RET reports.
*Installation of ice bridges, cable trays, equipment pads, racks and platforms.
*Learn and incorporate climbing and work safety requirements.
*Basic mechanical abilities with hand tools and simple power tools.
*Ability to work reliably under minimal supervision.
*Excellent physical conditioning and stamina.
*Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including but not limited to: snow, rain and varying temperatures.
*Ability to read, comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions.
*Ability to read and understand construction drawings, RFDS files and project specific scopes of work.
*Familiar with path calculations (microwave).
*Observe all company procedures and safety rules.
*Work as part of a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
*Ability to take constructive criticism.
*Proficient with closeout documentation and photos.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, use hands to reach and perform specific duties, climb or balance, talk and hear. Ability to walk, sit, squat, kneel or crawl for extended periods of time. Ability to frequently lift/carry 25 lbs. and occasionally lift/carry up to 100 lbs. Able to climb and work at heights exceeding 200'. Good vision for close work, distance, color discrimination, peripheral and depth perception.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable. DOT Medical Examiner's Cert (MEC) or take exam after hire, per company policy
Background check must be completed upon receiving a job offer
Days of work - Monday thru Friday, 10 hours with weekends as needed
