Purpose of Position:
The Quality Assurance Team Lead will lead and execute all Quality and Testing aspects for assigned teams, projects, and support. The role involves partnering with QA supervisors and leads in strategy planning, hands-on QA work, and evolving QA processes. The candidate will analyze systems for testing priorities and methods, ensuring application quality and reliability for internal and external customers. They will collaborate with QA resources to detect software defects prior to release.
Essential Functions:
- Develop QA processes with the QA Manager/Supervisor, ensuring industry best practices
- Provide knowledge transfer and training sessions
- Contribute to QA strategy, test case management, and transformation activities
- Plan project assignments for capacity and backup options
- Collaborate with the Test Automation team for backlog creation and task assignments
- Oversee all quality assurance aspects, establish metrics, and develop tools and processes
- Work with onshore and offshore QA engineers, developing test plans and managing defect tracking
- Participate in all software development phases, providing a quality perspective
- Become an application feature expert and evaluate product specifications for testability
- Devise and execute test strategies, write bugs, track, and report results
- Participate in process improvement for QA and SDLC processes
- Develop and maintain automated test cases
- Support and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Perform other business tasks as assigned
- Report time and track tasks
Required Skills:
- 10 years in Manual Testing
- Experience in leading offshore teams
- Proficient in all aspects of manual testing
- Familiar with TFS - Azure DevOps and SQL Server
- Web application testing experience
- Skilled in fictional regression testing and smoke testing
- Experience collaborating with BAs and stakeholders
- Managing offshore teams (6-12 people)
- Role split: 50% management/leading, 50% manual QA work
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of the insurance domain
- Experience with Azure DevOps
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Structured testing methodologies
- SDLC knowledge and project/work level estimation
- Legacy and web-based application testing
- All phases of testing: data preparation, test case design, execution, and result analysis
- Functional, regression, smoke, and performance testing
- Test writing and bug reporting tools (e.g., TFS)
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
Preferred Skills:
- Legacy system experience
- Console-based systems and custom off-the-shelf systems
- Implementing/administering automation frameworks (Selenium, UFT)
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years in functional, regression, smoke, user acceptance, and performance testing
- Health insurance industry knowledge preferred
