Job Description
Overview/General Summary:
This role will work alongside an Environmental Driver Specialist to learn the role. Role will also act as a DEA regulated waste collection witness at customer locations where DEA controlled substances are involved. Responsible for completions of HazWoper training and DOT certification within first 90 days.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Ride with other Environmental Driver Specialists to pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
Act as a witness at customer locations where DEA controlled substances are involved.
Ride along with a CDL Driver to assist with duties at their stops.
Video the destruction process of DEA controlled substances and upload video into employer system.
Requires up to 75% overnight travel based on routes
Load containers and supplies to truck for daily service stops
Learn how to label containers, complete pre-printed manifests / work orders and schedule shipments into or off site.
Performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of waste materials. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions and performing general housekeeping duties.
Operates a hand truck, forklift, or other heavy equipment depending on location.
Learn how to properly classify, segregate, and inventory waste containers in storage for shipment as well as pack small laboratory containers of chemical waste into larger containers for shipment.
Performs various regulatory compliance and safety tasks including, but not limited to:
Pre-trip inspections of vehicle
Report all losses, spills, accidents, and safety violations to supervisor immediately.
Resolve leaking containers/containers in non-DOT shippable condition.
Occasional contact with all levels of Customers while learning role.
Drive non-DOT regulated vehicle to customer sites to witness regulated waste collection as needed.
Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge, and Education Requirements
Education and Technical Requirements
Education equivalent to High School diploma or the equivalent in related work experience preferred.
May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements.
Must complete CDL (A or B) as well as HazWoper training within 90 days of entry to position.
Demonstrates competency in placard placement, container labeling and shipping/receiving duties.
Demonstrates the ability to observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
May require forklift driver certification and six or more months of relevant experience.
