Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is an integral, first line management position, proficient in all day to day operations. They will be responsible for key areas within the site, which will include planning, organizing and supervising daily production activities.
The Supervisor will ensure compliant processing of product which adheres to Customer requirements and adheres to company, quality, and regulatory standards.
The Supervisor will train, coach and mentor their team to a high standard that embraces a lean culture, aligned with the company’s vision, mission and values.
The Supervisor will lead by example, creating a positive working environment, that engages in a continuous improvement of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost (SQDC).
Duties
- Ensure processing of all products is in line with Customer expectations and meets processing parameters.
- Motivate and develop a team that can cover all required tasks to a high standard, ensuring all tasks are covered and prioritised in the expected and most efficient order, including any conflict between the team or with a 3rd party i.e. delivery drivers.
- Drive attainment and promote improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) performance.
- Lead with proper adherence to quality system procedures, Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Facilitate a safety culture and perform safety audits to ensure proper use and condition of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that safety systems are in place and in use.
- Investigate and report any near misses or incidents and ensure the site is in a safe condition at all times.
- Train individuals and the team to a high standard ensuring competency is achieved and maintained to expected levels.
- Help provide growth through talent development by giving opportunities to employees. This will be driven by effective coaching, counselling and setting meaningful and measurable goals.
- To help create and maintain a proactive culture where team members are empowered to deliver the company values of PEOPLE, ACHIEVEMENT, INNOVATION, INTEGRITY and ACCOUNTABILITY.
- Drive continuous improvement of 5S on site using lean principles and according to STERIS standards.
- Promote and support site iniatives across departments through a proactive approach and a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Ensure all non-conforming product is identified, documented and segregated through the quarantine process.

- Support all other departments within Steris Westport site, i.e. Quality, Technical and Finance to complete documentation as required or provide support to any investigations.
- Specific Day-to-day duties:
Approve Kronc timesheet weekly for all personnel on Monday morning.
Complete Honeydew reports and complete return to work interviews.
Always ensure a high standard up-keep of the Warehouse and irradiation chamber and ensure weekly duties is completed and form signed.
Generate Annual Rota for distribution by end of November.
Review training plan at start of year and organise training for operator personnel where required i.e. Fork truck training, Fire safety etc.
Annually Review and Development of the operations team with Operations Manager, to ensure cover for all future positions as required i.e. planner. Where required develop a training plan for these positions.
Ongoing liaison with your team to ensure sufficient cover throughout breaks early mornings etc. and Annual leave for your team and always ensuring adequate cover in place.
Support and attend Health and Safety meetings and carry out necessary tasks for you and your team as required.
Support and present at PIT meetings for operations and when Operations Manager/ Plant Manager is absent.
Education Degree
Required Experience
Number of years experience accepted in lieu of degree and type: Two (2) years or more of supervisory experience
Preferred:
- Ideal candidate will have previous experience working in an operational environment.
- Hands on experience implementing operational processes.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Team Leadership with good interpersonal skills.
- Strong at administrative tasks and maintain a good standard.
- Strong decision making
