Job Description The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science, Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) seeks to fill a non-tenure track teaching faculty position in Biomedical Sciences at an open rank (Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor or Teaching Professor) starting in Fall 2022. The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) at Stevens is known for its legacy of fostering and nurturing groundbreaking, world-class innovation. CCB was among the first to offer an undergraduate Chemical Biology degree in 1978 and today remains at the forefront of chemical biology with our internationally recognized faculty in the healthcare domain as well as with professionally diverse experiences in academia and industry. The department currently consists of 17 full time faculty members, approximately 145 undergraduates, 40 Masters, and 25 doctoral students. The CCB faculty is active in research and has brought in $4.2M research funding from NIH and NSF during the academic year of 2020-2021. The strategic vision of CCB, newly formulated in 2021, will strengthen our department to be a community of researchers with molecular, cellular, and computational minds, dedicated to educating the next generation of science leaders and innovators and exploring transformative scientific ideas for global societal impact. Per this strategic vision, we would like to strengthen and innovate our educational programs that would complement our research growth in computational chemistry and biology, drug discovery, and cancer research. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and scholar. The individual is expected to be highly collaborative with our current faculty toward transforming our educational programs with a line of sight to multiple career paths in the biomedical sciences. The candidate is also expected to develop and deliver innovative graduate and upper level undergraduate courses with emphasis in clinical sciences as broadly defined. This position requires the candidate to have a MD and/or Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or related fields. Preference will be given to individual with a stellar teaching and student advisory history. Stevens Institute of Technology is a private university located in Hoboken, New Jersey.
