Job Posting for Metadata Specialist (Contractor) at Stitch Fix

We’re a team of bright, kind, goal-oriented individuals who care deeply about achieving great things. We know our individual strengths, but believe that we’re strongest together. Our company is transforming the retail experience as we know it—and we need your big ideas. We just might be the perfect fit.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Product Imaging Post-Production team (PIPP team) sits within Creative Operations and is responsible for all post-production processes within the Product Imaging Team. We are responsible for the coordination, quality inspections and data verification of all Stitch Fix Product Imaging media assets from the RAW file processing stage on the production floor to their final storage destinations. We continually strive to enable and empower our team members to use their creative, technical and operational talents to the fullest.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Metadata Specialist is responsible for review, naming, metadata, and file transfer to and from our pathing vendor of all images captured by our Atlanta- and UK- based photo studio teams. This role will work closely with our on-set Digital Technicians and other PIPP team members to verify and align all data associated with product imaging digital assets, including files from our in-house global studio network, external contract studios and multiple vendor partners. The ideal candidate has experience managing metadata across a high volume of photo and video files. They must be highly organized with a passion for photo production and post-production. The assets they will work with are foundational to everything the Product Imaging team does and are often in high demand by various internal stakeholders on quick turnarounds. They’ll be immersed in the full lifecycle of an asset and will be expected to contribute to strategies to make each phase in that lifecycle efficient. This role will report to the PIPP team lead who is responsible for all Product Imaging post-production.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor automated ingestion processes for raw and processed imagery and footage deliveries across various protocols, including network file shares, Box, and FTP
  • Use Adobe Lightroom to add necessary metadata to images
  • Coordinate the movement of digital assets through our metadata and pathing processes
  • Communicate technical processes and results with cross-functional partners in Slack and in regular meetings
  • Restating detail orientation:
    • Anticipate and catch individual errors in large batches of files
    • Adjust assets as needed to match standards
YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE YOU...
  • Thrive in an environment where you manage your own data entry workflow
  • Enjoy automating photo studio and data entry workflow processes
  • Are excited to solve problems with image data in new ways
  • Enjoy removing technical barriers to creativity to facilitate artistic work
  • Are satisfied when you research and solve a problem completely
SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with creative teams, advertising agencies, or photo studios
  • Understanding of creative workflows and terminology
  • Experience with organizing and managing a large catalog and daily volume of files
  • The ability to communicate needs and perceived workflow issues succinctly
  • Strongest candidates will have specific experience with any of the following:
    • Capture One Pro
    • exiftool
    • AppleScript
