CNC Apprentice

JOB SUMMARY:

STOBER Inc. is seeking a CNC Machining Apprentice to join our family.  You will have the opportunity to learn in our 3,000 square foot dedicated machinist training center with lab, classroom, and full-time instructor.  You will also have the opportunity to train in our full production CNC machining area.  The equipment includes Manual Lathes, Manual Mills, Surface Grinder, Vertical and Horizontal Bandsaws, Drill Press, CNC Lathes, and a Makino Vertical Machining Center.  STOBER offers a competitive compensation and benefits packages including medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, 401k contribution and 401k match, and employee assistance program.

APPRENTICESHIP (General):

This is a four-year apprenticeship program.  (Previous work experience, MCTC credit, and/or college credit may qualify to be applied to the first 2 years of this program). Apprenticeship compensation is based on a percentage of entry wage.  Entry level compensation is dependent on education/experience coming into the program. Compensation will increase as the Apprentice progresses through the program, culminating with an industry competitive full-time CNC Machinist wage at the end of the program. This position requires earning 12 credit hours per year at Maysville Community & Technical College's (MCTC) Computerized Manufacturing and Machining Technology program or KYFAME.  Books and tuition are company funded, provided minimum academic requirements are met. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Work 30 hours per week
• WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO HIRE A QUALIFIED CNC OPERATOR AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE APPRENTICE POSITION

• Operate/Setup: mills, lathes, drills, surface grinders, and saws
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow safety procedures.
• Able to write/edit programs
• Able to read and interpret drawings
• Able to follow routings
• Able to utilize hand held measuring tools:  Micrometers, calipers, bench centers, CMM, plug gages, thread gages
• Perform set up operation of machine
• Read load sheets to ensure production goals are met and customer requirements are met
• Perform inspection of machined parts (including documentation of results).
• Coordinate daily tasks with other Team members, perform peer reviews to provide relevant feedback, check email,

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, push or pull up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance. The employee must regularly lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
