Role Description
Mid-level professional responsible for the strategy, creation, and feature definition of products and features in our software platform. This role is responsible to oversee the development and delivery of products from start to finish to ensure they meet the clients’ needs and preferences and support revenue, impact, and customer experience, leading to high levels of customer engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty. This role leads the coordinated execution of digital experience lifecycle processes for products and services through close collaboration with Product design, Customer Experience, User Research, and Product Management while working directly with the Executive Management team to create growth strategy and market positioning.
Responsibilities
- Own Digital Product backlog, including story creation, prioritization, management, and acceptance based on deep understanding of the market, customers, and overall business strategies; communicates and works closely with key stakeholders and partners to ensure visibility, transparency, and understanding of the current backlog for features and functionality, providing day-to-day direction to the delivery team as well as regular progress updates to business stakeholders; serves as a representative and voice for customer needs, partnering with Product Management and other stakeholders to define and prioritize stories in the team backlog.
- Develops high-level vision for the overall digital experience and associated products; refines product and solution, supporting the team and iteration backlog on a constant basis through multiple methods, including informal face-to-face communication with teams; collaborates with other Product managers to develop and deliver a unified roadmap across digital platform teams.
- Drives alignment of varied needs for technical leaders, empowering them to drive the delivery of features and global initiatives; supports close coordination amongst front office and back-office systems to assure successful delivery of digital experiences and product features.
- Leads the development of product-release plans and sets expectations for delivery of new functionalities; assures timely and successful delivery of digital experience sprint deliverables (x-weeks) and Outcome delivery (x-weeks); negotiates cross-team priorities and dependencies in alignment with organizational priorities; actively mitigates roadblocks impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals.
- Owns definition of done, and accepts stories as done when all requirements and quality expectations have been met; develops detailed product feature specifications and ensures clear understanding by the development teams; assesses value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, features, epics, and themes to ensure work aligns with product strategy.
- Serves as a data steward for assigned area(s), responsible for defining, measuring, and synthesizing the needs and output of the data assets associated with their backlog, as well as understanding the interrelationship of enterprise data assets.
- Define product fit within overall product portfolio, identify and address gaps & overlaps in product portfolio.
- Draft key objectives and results, strategies and apply the data for the product to make business decisions. Solve product-related problems, make decisions, and complete trade-off analysis to stay on track towards business deliverable commitments.
- Evaluate the costs need to develop detailed product build strategy and plans by developing appropriately detailed specifications for the product features so they are clearly understood by the development teams to determine and manage costs to build.
Assure effective design and delivery of needed products to support the overall portfolio, clearly communicating the product features and related customer needs with business partners.
Continually monitor product performance and product marketplace to evaluate ongoing product benefits and the need to respond to the competitive landscape and evolving needs of our customers.
Act as an ambassador for the product internally and externally; support customers in understanding the business model, value and value proposition of highlighted products, with clear demonstration of how products support their specific needs. Work in collaboration with Account Management team to educate sales channels (direct & external) on product positioning and benefits (including use cases), target audience. Build or oversee the development of sales material and work in collaboration with Marketing on promotion strategy, marking investment and tactics.
Determine and manage costs to build, market and support products and provide ongoing recommendations to maintain, enhance, replace or discontinue the product.
- Support all stages of product creation, including collaborating with design and development and prospective users and customers to understand and anticipate their product needs.
- Learn to monitor product performance and product marketplace to evaluate ongoing product benefits and the need to respond to the competitive landscape and evolving needs of our customers.
- Conduct market research and work with user research and development to understand customer needs, competitor products, and market trends to drive product direction.
- Communicate with Client Services to ensure staff are knowledgeable of new product offerings, that they are aware of release notes and product strategy and can oversee implementation and provide top notch customer service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in business, product development, or another related field; equivalent experience may be considered
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in product management and/or product development
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with a digital product strategy
- Ability to meet with C level customers and prospects.
- Understanding of the software development life cycle process
- Motivated self-starter who is comfortable working with all levels within the organization
- Prior retail or application software experience beneficial.
- Experienced in product road mapping, business development and strategic planning.
- Strong customer service orientation with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and balance the needs of target audiences.
- Solid understanding of Product Design and Digital strategies, with demonstrated success in applying these strategies to achieve desired business outcomes and increased engagement with customers.
- Proven ability to successfully drive end-to-end delivery of digital solutions, using a wide variety of platforms and tools to assure full understanding of product performance and opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrated strength in partnering across leadership, marketing, portfolio leaders, product managers, and product owners.
- Minimum 1-3 years working in an agile, dynamic, and customer-centric environment with knowledge of iterative development and Agile principles.
- Success with procurement, expense management, account management, marketing, and service design channels to understand needs and support the sales of products.
- Solid communication, presentation and collaboration skills in a variety of circumstances and environments.
- Proficiency in the business language for STORIS (English)
