What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teardown Mechanic position at Stormont-Vail HealthCare?
The Teardown Mechanic is responsible for the timely and accurate tear down of any gears, drivetrain/transmissions, and differentials in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. May be directed by the Production Manager to assure that the drivetrain is disassembled in a safe, efficient, and proper manner.
- Duties Performed for Remanufacturing Production:
- Greets and assists customers
- Load and unload any work that is coming in.
- Dismantles all work as it comes in.
- Resurfaces flywheels
- Ability to follow directions
- Responsible for maintenance of equipment.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Keeps clean, safe working conditions and practices within the department.
- Attends and participates in all relevant training programs established by the company and OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to identify any routine safety hazards and reports them to the Rebuild Manager.
- Any grievances, questions, or concerns are communicated directly with upper management who can act upon them.
- Is committed to keeping a positive work environment based around teamwork.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Duties Performed for Salvage Production:
- Ensure the drivetrain does not have unrepairable damage.
- Obtain accurate compression readings with PICO Scope or Compression Gauge and document findings.
- Use the LKQ training poster to properly disassemble, drain, dress, and palletizing.
- Bracket attaches all torque convertors to the transmission.
- Cap plug all openings before quality control washing.
- Drop transmission pans for inspection.
- Stamp, heat tab on the block, tag and attach all necessary LKQ warranty tags.
- Properly dispose and drain table fluids into designated labeled drums.
- Accurately tag and label parts for inventory.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
